Do you ever notice that there are certain attorneys that are publishing material on Linkedin more than others? What is it that you notice when you think about these attorneys that post on LinkedIn? Let’s think about it for a second. Is it that they are posting great original articles?
What stands out for you when you think about attorneys that you feel are doing LinkedIn well? I will wager it’s probably because they post content at a regular frequency. So just like working out, the results come from the consistent effort. When you see another attorney that consistently has content of value whether it’s their own or content that links to external resources that may affect your practice area, you and other attorneys and members of the network are seeing their thought leadership take place on a daily basis. Your confidence in them is built up and reinforced over time.
So when it’s time to help a family member or a friend with a referral to someone you trust and respect you are going to think about the attorney that you consider a thought leader, it’s just normal because you see them so much. And yes part of it is what they say and how often they say it. I am not sure which is more important but you need to do both and can.
And in the meantime don’t get worked up about writing your own content. Take the approach where if you find a piece of content that you want to post something about then be sure to post that article but then dedicate some time to work on writing a blog post about that article. We all know that attorneys want to be practicing law and working on matters for their clients, but it’s very important that they devote a steady percentage of their time to targeted marketing.
