Francis McGovern, President of Qlegal
Francis
McGovern is the President of Qlegal and is responsible for managing day
to day operations for Qlegal and for delivering client results.
Francis has been working with Search Engines
and in online marketing since 1998. Previously, he was a Product Manager
at The Search Engine Lycos, where he worked on the My Lycos product. Francis
was responsible for the daily management of the Lycos Network's suite
of premier personalization products. He helped to create and implement
several successful customer acquisition programs that increased user retention
for the over 4-million member My Lycos Database. At Lycos, his specialty
was working with Lycos premier partners including IBM, HP, Intel, and
Fidelity, while guiding his team during the launch of million dollar integration
projects.
After Lycos, Francis was the Director of Search Engine Optimization at
Backbone Media. At the firm, Francis built the search engine optimization
business including sales, marketing and the client strategy team. His
team help deliver results for both public and private companies and some
of Boston top law firms and practice groups.
While working with legal clients and practice groups, Francis developed a passion for legal marketing. He understood there was a process and science to legal marketing, along with a clear benefit to the firms he worked with. This inspired him to focus on legal marketing. He founded Qlegal to help firms and practice groups go beyond the current state of legal marketing. He enjoys the challenge of developing new and successful strategies for leading firms and practice groups.
Rachel Hayes, Vice President & Principal Consultant, The Wellesley Hill Group
Rachel
Hayes has spent her thirty-year career in professional services marketing.
She has held key positions in higher education, consulting, accounting,
investment banking and law. After serving as Assistant Dean for MBA Admissions
and Financial Aid at Washington University in St. Louis, she held marketing
leadership roles at Goldman Sachs, Andersen, Mercer Human Resources Consulting
and the law firms of Hill & Barlow and Kirkpatrick & Lockhart (now K&L
Gates).In these positions, Rachel was responsible for building marketing
strategies and executing annual marketing campaigns. Her work has included
developing local, regional, national and international marketing initiatives
as well as programs designed to address specific industry and/or practice
group objectives.
In February 2006, Rachel established her own marketing consultancy, which focused on the strategic and operational marketing needs of law firms. Her projects included restructuring a marketing department, implementing major events for an AmLaw 100 firm, and driving a re-branding program.
Rachel is also an experienced trainer and facilitator. She has trained consultants for the roll-out of a new product line, led senior executives in strategy-building sessions, developed and delivered business development training to junior lawyers and coached individual professionals in business development skill-building. She has been a featured speaker for programs sponsored by the Graduate Management Admission Council and the Legal Marketing Association.
An active member of Boston’s professional and civic community, Rachel serves on the Board of The Boston Club, Boston’s largest organization of senior executive women and is the former Board Chair of Chorus pro Musica.
Deborah C. Scaringi, Principal, Deb Scaringi Marketing
Deb
Scaringi is a Marketing and Business Development professional with 17
years of experience in service organizations. Although her primary focus
is in the legal industry, Deb also offers a full spectrum of marketing
services for businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
In her consulting practice, Deb helps lawyers, marketing professionals, practice groups and law firms develop focused programs for marketing communications and business development. Through strategic counseling she crafts firm vision, evaluates & analyzes existing marketing programs and establishes both individual and firm-wide marketing plans. Additionally, she coaches individuals in business development, provides copywriting and editing, strategic website development and project management services. She has established marketing departments in law firms for over a decade, building dedicated marketing services from the bottom up.
Prior to assisting clients in a consulting capacity, Deb served as the Director of Marketing for two New England-based law firms. In these positions, she served as a top-level professional responsible for developing and executing all strategic marketing and business development initiatives, working directly with the firm’s leadership. Prior to joining the legal industry in 1998, Deb was a marketing professional in the Healthcare industry.
Deb has been an active member of the Legal Marketing Association since 1998 and served in many leadership positions. She joined the LMA New England Chapter’s Board of Directors in 2001. She was the Founder and Chair of the nationally award-winning Mentor Program during her tenure. Deb served as the Chapter President in 2005, overseeing a board of multiple committees and volunteers. She also sat on the International Legal Marketing Association board, where she was the Chair of the Chapter President’s Committee.
Deb gives presentations on a variety of marketing and business development topics for organizations such as the Legal Marketing Association, the Woman’s Bar Association and the New England Direct Marketing Association. Additionally, she authors and publishes articles for business and legal publications. Most recently, Deb published the article “Recessionary Thinking: 12 Smart Marketing Tips for Tough Times”, which focuses on how to market efficiently in a downturned economy. Deb earned two Bachelors of Arts degrees in English and Music, cum laude, from Muhlenberg College in 1991.
